Organization Needs Help local organizations meet the needs of the people they serve. - St. Vincent de Paul Society/Saint Mary's of the Dunes, 85060 Highway 101, Florence, Oregon, (541)-997-2312, is accepting donations of household items in good condition to help families in need. Mattresses, with sheets and other bedding are especially needed.
- Helping Hands, which meets at 4590 Highway 101, in the basement of the Community Baptist Church in Florence to serve a hot meal and other services to those in need on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays is in need of the following items:
- Cases of canned vienna sausages and other easy to carry, easy to open foods suitable for people who are without shelter or cooking facilities.
- Masks. N95 is preferred, but blue disposable surgical masks are good too.
- Camping gear including tents, tarps, sleeping bags and rain gear.
- Clothing, including wool socks, hats, hiking boots, and clothing for adults and children.
- Bus passes.
- Laundry and shower vouchers.
- Six sturdy 4 tier 2 foot plastic shelving units.
- Financial donations. Helping Hands is a 501 (c) (3) organization and donations and contributions are tax deductible. Volunteers are also needed. For more information see the Helping Hands website.
